Canal Holidays

Canal holidays are a remarkable experience with even the most seasoned boater finding new discoveries on each trip. The Monmouthshire and Brecon canal is a unique stretch of waterway through the Brecon Beacons National Park, built in the early 1800’s for the transportation of primarily iron goods to Newport. One of the original wharf buildings is now converted into our home, from which we operate Beacon Park Boats.
We offer a fleet of narrowboats for canal holidays on the ‘Mon and Brec’ giving you the opportunity to explore a beautiful part of the country aboard your own accommodation at your own pace.

The beauty of canal holidays is that you determine the pace at which to travel, where to stop and how long for and what to do along the route. The area has numerous attractions which may (or may not) distract visitors already enjoying their canal holidays. There is an abundance of wildlife along the route, fabulous walking within the Brecon Beacons and Black mountains, mountain biking, horse riding and caving to name but a few. However if being aboard the boat is where you prefer to remain there’s plenty to see and do right on the canal itself ensuring that canal holidays can be as active or relaxing as you want.

Canal holidays on the ‘Mon and Brec’ allow you to experience a truly beautiful and peaceful canal with enough locks, lift bridges and tunnels to keep even experienced boaters happy but with sufficient cruising in between to allow you time to thoroughly enjoy your surroundings and appreciate the beauty of the scenery and wildlife.

The standards of our canal boats both inside and out ensure that canal holidays become something you’ll wish you’d tried sooner. All of our boats have fully sprung mattresses on the beds, full central heating and efficient hot water systems. Bathrooms and kitchens are fitted out to the highest standards ensuring that the whole experience of canal holidays is pleasurable from start to finish.
